Epsom salts and lavender offer real benefits for your body. Lavender Bath Salts are a lovely way to unwind at the end of the day!
A bath with lavender bath salts is wonderful at the end of a long day, or really any time!
Whether or not you're a bath person, these little jars make a lovely gift or something handy to have on hand after a long day!

Lately I've been looking into healthier, more natural solutions. I've also been reading about the different toxins found in nearly everything we use.
That led me to start using coconut oil as a moisturizer, and I just made some homemade body butter to use as lotion. I like knowing what goes into the products I use. I still have a long way to go in replacing them all, but you have to start somewhere, right?

So I decided to try making my own bath salts. Epsom salt baths are said to be great for detoxing the body, and I know lavender has many benefits! It was incredibly easy and only took three ingredients.

DIY Lavender Bath Salt Supplies
- 1 cup of Epsom salts
- 1 tablespoon of baking soda
- 10 drops of lavender essential oils {I only recommend Young Living Essential Oils.}
Mix everything together in a bowl and store it in an airtight glass container. I found my little half-cup glass jars at Hobby Lobby, but any glass container will do.
Pour 1/4 cup of salts under warm running water. Soak and enjoy! {Use 1/2 a cup in larger garden tubs.}

I've used them many times since I mixed this batch, and they've been fabulous. I also let my 4-year-old daughter soak in the bath, and she sleeps very well afterward, let me tell you! I truly love my lavender oil.
Other Essential Oils to Add to Bath Salts:
This recipe is so versatile because you can easily add or swap in any essential oil. Often, when someone in my family isn't feeling their best, I'll whip up a personalized bath salt blend for their bath!
Here are some other great essential oils you can use in place of lavender in this recipe.
- Myrtle
- Eucalyptus
- Peppermint
- Frankincense
- Sandalwood
- Geranium
- Patchouli
- Orange (Be aware that citrus oils make your skin photosensitive, so wait 12 hours after the bath before going in the sun.)
If you'd like more spa products to make on your own with Young Living Essential Oils, you'll love this lip balm recipe. I share my labels and how to make them. I adore my lavender lip balm and use it not only on my lips but also as a boo-boo stick. It's wonderful!
This is another great lip balm recipe, too!
Again, I'd be happy to answer any questions or help in any way! Let me know if you need a bottle of Lavender oil and I can get one for you!
