Discover 10 handy ways to use Young Living Purification oil around your house!
Hi friends! It's been a while since I shared about one of my favorite things: essential oils. If you've been anywhere near the internet lately, you've probably heard all about them. They're all the rage. I've been using them at home and with my family for a year now, and I can honestly say they've changed how we handle just about every problem we run into.
I stopped posting about them last fall after a certain government agency that sounds like effff-dee-ayyyy cracked down on essential oil companies, and we had to rephrase how we described using them. I had to remove my essential oil posts and reword several of them to stay compliant.
All of this happened right before Baby G arrived, so I didn't have time to deal with it then. Now that I've gone back through them and republished some, I'm ready to start sharing again. The bottom line: even though I wasn't writing about these little bottles of wellness, I was still using them every single day. They're a real part of my family's health and wellness routine.

Today I'm sharing about Purification! It was the very first oil I bought, long before I was truly into oils. My husband had a dog when we got married, and I'll be blunt: she smelled like, well... the back end of an animal. She was an older bulldog, and apparently they start to smell at a certain age.
I was desperate to stop my home from smelling like a dog's rear end, so I bought a bottle of Purification. I put 2-3 drops on some cotton balls and tucked them into the vents around the house. It helped a ton. Today I'd just add a few drops to a diffuser. I love how it neutralizes foul odors!
Purification is an essential oil blend made from citronella, lemongrass, rosemary, tea tree (melaleuca alternifolia), lavandin and myrtle.
Purification, as described on the Young Living website:
Purification® can be applied straight to the skin to cleanse and soothe. When diffused, it helps purify and clean the air of environmental impurities such as cigarette smoke and other unpleasant odors.

The many ways to use Purification:
- Diffuse 5 drops to freshen the air after cooking fish or other strongly scented dishes.
- Dab a little on a blemish to soothe, cleanse and nourish the skin.
- Rub a drop of Purification onto an insect bite to calm the skin.
- Mix 10 drops each of Purification and Citronella oils with 4 oz. of water in a spray bottle to make a natural bug repellent.
- Tuck a cotton ball with 2 drops of Purification into a shoe to neutralize unpleasant smells.

- Blend with diluted lemon oil and massage onto the outside of the throat for soothing comfort.
- Add a few drops to a cotton ball and set it in the car's air vents to banish bad odors.
- Apply to a blister to help clean and shield it.
- Stir 10 drops of Purification into 4 oz. of water and mist it onto laundry to refresh it. (I do this when I've left clothes in the washer a bit too long.)
- Keep a small spray bottle of Purification and water in the guest bathroom in place of air fresheners full of chemicals.
