Learn how to make your own DIY soft scrub cleaner that will make your ceramic sinks and tubs shine!
I don't think I've ever been so excited about a cleaning product. I mean, come on! Who likes to clean? Since I discovered this homemade, all-natural soft scrub, I've been scrubbing my white kitchen sink every day. So much so that my husband teases me that the sink looks nicer than the rest of the house on a regular basis. He may be right. Ha!

Having a clean kitchen and a sparkling sink goes a long way toward making me feel like my house isn't falling apart, so I think it's OK.
If you've followed along for very long, you've seen me post about taking a more chemical-free approach to some areas of my family's well-being. I'll be honest: we still have a lot of chemicals in our home, but little by little, I'm trying to replace old products with non-toxic ones.
So let me tell you about my new favorite cleaner. It's made from 3 ingredients and will whiten your porcelain or ceramic sink without bleach!

It's been ages since my white kitchen sink actually looked white, because I refused to use bleach on it. I figured it was doomed to be stained and scratched. My husband said he thought it was an eggshell color, until I started cleaning it with this cleaner. Here's my sink after I scrubbed it with soap and water…

Plenty of coffee stains and scratches from daily use are still visible, but they're not nearly as noticeable anymore!!
This recipe works on ceramic or porcelain bathtubs, sinks, and toilets, too!

Supplies to Make DIY Soft Scrub:
1. 3 Tablespoons of Castile Soap. I use this kind, which I found at Target and Amazon, and I LOVE it.
2. 1 cup of Baking Soda
3. 15 drops of your favorite citrus essential oil, like Lemon, Orange, or Citrus Fresh. Citrus essential oils are wonderful for lifting sticky residue and getting out stains. (I only use Young Living oils. Find out why here.)

How to Make Your Own Soft Scrub Cleaner:

It's so simple. Just mix all of the ingredients together in a medium bowl. The consistency will be fairly dry and paste-like. If it's too dry, add a little more castile soap.

Store the soft scrub in an airtight container. I prefer glass, because citrus oils can pull chemicals out of plastic, and I'd rather not have my new chemical-free cleaner contaminated.

Put a small amount on a damp cloth or brush and scrub the surface. If the stains are really stubborn, let the mixture sit for a few minutes.

This ring around the drain has been there since we moved in, and nothing could remove it. A little dab of my new soft scrub and some elbow grease, and this baby looked good as new! This sink has never looked this good.

Is it perfect and completely white in every spot? No, but it's 100 times better than it was before!

Oh, I think I'm in love!

Do you make any of your own cleaning supplies? I've gotten rid of so many old cleaners, but I still have a long way to go. Next up? Laundry detergent!
