Give your skin a glow with this easy DIY lemon sugar scrub. With just 3 ingredients and 5 quick steps, your skin will feel smooth and moisturized in no time!
I'm thrilled to share this fun DIY with you today, because it's so yummy and scrubalicious! {Yes, that's a real word.} It leaves your skin feeling silky and simply fantastic.
With Mother's Day just around the corner, I decided to whip up a few of these for my mom and mother-in-law. They are perfect for any gift occasion, like Christmas, birthdays or just because.
Okay, you know I've become a bit obsessed with essential oils. If you're curious why, check out my reasoning and the best way to get your own here. You'll want in on the love too, I promise.

I found this sugar scrub recipe from my friend Beth, but I wanted to try it with lemon. Lemon is so good for your skin, as well as many other things.
Here's how to make your very own lemon sugar scrub.

What You'll Need to Make the Lemon Sugar Scrub
- 2.5 cups of sugar {Any kind works, but I used pure cane sugar because I wanted larger granules.}
- 8 oz. of oil, such as almond oil or grapeseed oil.
- 30 drops of Young Living Lemon Essential Oil {To order any essential oils, please click here to sign up for an account. My member # 1666197}
- Wide-mouth glass containers. I bought mine at Walmart, though you can also find them here. This recipe fills 4 8 oz./half pint containers.

This recipe is so simple and smells so good. I had the urge a few times to eat a spoonful, but I kept reminding myself it's a body product, not food. Although, every ingredient is edible.
How to Make DIY Lemon Sugar Scrub
Step 1. Wash Your Jars
Wash your jars before you fill them with the scrub. I like to make sure they're nice and clean.

Step 2. Combine the Oil & Sugar
Pour the sugar into a bowl and add the oil.

Step 3. Mix Well
Stir it with a spoon or fork until it reaches the consistency of wet sand for building sandcastles.

Step 4. Stir in the Essential Oil
Add the lemon essential oil and stir until well mixed. You don't have to stick with lemon, either. Nearly any essential oil you love {and that can be used topically} would be great in this scrub. Some would be a bit too strong, though. An oregano sugar scrub might not be the best choice, but I'll leave that one up to you.
Please note: Citrus essential oils are photosensitive, so always apply sunscreen after use if you'll be out in the sun.
Also note: I recommend using only Young Living Essential Oils. They are therapeutic-grade oils with a Seed to Seal guarantee. Oils from the drugstore or supermarket are often cut with synthetic products that can irritate skin.
Step 5. Store Sugar Scrub in Air-Tight Glass Jars
Spoon the scrub into the jars and add any pretty ribbons or ties you like. I simply used yellow ribbon and twine around the lids.
It's important to use glass jars, because citrus oils will break down plastic.
