We moved into our home a year ago yesterday, and it feels like I have a child turning 1! So come with me down a little memory lane. In some ways, as with any passage of time, it feels like we've been here forever. Other times it seems like just yesterday. I think that's just how life feels when you get older-ish (or almost 32!!).
As you know, if you've been here for very long at all, I started this blog to document the changes in our new home. One of the first posts was The BIG Project: settling into a new house!
Here are some of the before and in-progress pictures. Thankfully I grabbed these before shots from the online listing, since I didn't think to take any before we moved in.
The living room hasn't had many updates yet, but I'm about to go kung-fu on this room... as soon as I get my saw fixed. (I know you're tired of hearing about that... me too! I just wish it was fixed.) I've been taking measurements for board and batten. I've also been testing out new wall colors. More on wall colors on Wednesday.
This was the living room in all its Christmas glory. I can't wait until we get new paint, board & batten, and more of us on the walls!
The breakfast nook hasn't changed a whole lot yet either, but I did paint it and just recently added a chalkboard.
I hope to hang some curtains soon. It just needs a little warmth, and fabric will go a long way. I have some ideas rolling around in my head, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.
The kitchen has changed very little, so there are no before and after photos needed. We've only painted it, but you all know I have big plans for this room.
Miss A's Room is by far the most finished room in the house. Of course she'll move into a big girl bed sometime in the next year, so everything will shift around at that point.
And then there's our bedroom, which we've spruced up quite a bit. I still need to work on the other side of the room. Maybe we'll get to show it off before the house turns two!
This is how it was set up when we first moved in and had only painted...
And this is how it looks now. I still love my king size bed, PB Colette paisley bedding, farmhouse headboard and IKEA rast hack.
I still have a ton planned. You can check out my home goals post for some ideas on what I'll be tackling. We actually went and bought trees for our front yard yesterday, so once we get those planted
we can cross that off the list. Yay!
I think it's so much fun to see how people decorate and build their homes, because a home is (or should be) a reflection of who they are. It tells our story in a way, which is why I love what I do. I love telling stories through our home, and I hope that keeps the people we love coming back time and time again.
Thank you for being a part of our first year in this house. I'm hoping we'll have many more years to share it all here!
