The Old House: Master Bedroom

The master bedroom: a sanctuary for husband and wife. But the forest green walls didn’t exactly feel like a sanctuary to me, more like a man cave. So I changed a few things once we renovated everything and moved back in.

I didn’t get a good picture of the old master bedroom before we started moving everything out, but those are the forest green walls. Nice for a single guy, not so nice for a newlywed couple.
New paint, new art, new duvet cover, new lamp.
A few accessories I brought with me, including a mirror for the dresser.

Things I love about my current bedroom:

custom color for Palmetto Gray from Porter Paints

Mix of greens and blues – I love the green in the duvet cover and the vase on the dresser. I’m not sure what that shade is called, but I plan to use it again in the new bedroom.

Things I don’t love about my bedroom:
The comforter – I bought this comforter because I liked the green and blue combo, but I didn’t see it in person before buying it. (Retired Pottery Barn Fiona Organic bedding.) I never liked it with the art above the bed, or really with the wall color. But I’ve been waiting to change the bedding because we’re getting a new king-size bed now that we’re in the new house. Hallelujah!!

Only one nightstand – I can’t wait to have room for two!

Barely enough room to get into bed because the room is so small.

What I plan to change in the new house:
Matching nightstands – I plan to do my own Rast Hack (probably very similar to this one from {A Charming Nest}). I already own the Rast IKEA nightstands; I just need to update them a bit. (Update: IKEA Rast Hack completed)
New duvet cover – something neutral, probably from Pottery Barn.
Add a quilt to the bed
Replace the picture over the bed. I want something more like this, with several pictures above the headboard. (Update: check out the pictures I added above the bed):

Oh, the work I have to do, and the money I’ll need to do it! I can’t wait to see the finished room.

(Update: I added curtains, too!)

I’ll cover the Dining Room next…
