As a blogger, I probably shouldn’t have a favorite post, much like a parent shouldn’t have a favorite child.
But I’ll let you in on a little secret …

…it’s this one.
My fall mantel. My favorite post all year long. Shhhhhh, don’t tell the others….

This is the third one I’ve decorated, and there’s something about cooler, crisp air, pumpkins, cider, chili and hayrides (or even just the thought of them) that sparks my decorating mood.

It fills me with giddy joy. Even while I’m carrying a 6-month baby bump, I could dance a jig just looking at my harvest sign and the touches of orange and blue.

Quick aside: I need a photo of this rather large baby bump. I have zero pictures of my pregnant belly so far. Sorry, sweet baby. I promise I’ll take one. #secondchildproblems

You know those are all faux pumpkins, right? The pumpkin patch isn’t open yet. But it will be soon! I’ll add them around the house, just like I did last year.

I took photos as I decorated this year. I loved my fall mantel so much last year that I wondered whether I could come up with something fresh I loved even more. Well, I think I did. At least in my humble opinion, because I love it.

You can tell me if you like last year’s mantel better, because I totally love that one too.
This year I want to keep my turquoise decor out through fall and into Christmas. I’m trying to weave my seasonal decor into every season rather than taking everything down, packing it away and bringing out all-new pieces. This busy girl doesn’t have time for all that. And when you love a color like I do, you want it around all year. I think this is part of figuring out my style and how I want my house to feel, instead of falling back into old habits.

I like to use what I already have, but in a new and different way. I think I managed that here this year. I’ll explain more in a future post.

For now, here is my simple, harvest, turquoise & orange fall mantel: my favorite post…
Seriously … do not tell the others.
