Our Under-the-Sink Cabinet, Before
With two daughters and me in the house, keeping beauty products, toiletries and hair essentials under control is a constant job. As my girls have grown up, I realized their under-sink cabinets needed better storage options.
One day I was in my older daughter's bathroom searching for something in the under-sink cabinet. It was a real mess! So I set about figuring out how to organize it.
We had been tossing things into those cabinets without much thought. I could see we were wasting a lot of space and simply needed more organization.

We could do a lot better with just a few simple storage pieces.
I also wanted to keep some of the most-used everyday items on the counter, within easy reach, so that getting ready for school in the mornings doesn't take *people* so long. I've gathered those ideas to share with you as well.
My main goal when buying new organizers was to make better use of vertical space. Let's talk about why it matters to organize under the bathroom sink, and then I'll show you how I did it!

Why Organize Under Your Bathroom Sink?
Making the Most of Space
The area under your bathroom sink is often underused. Organizing it creates room for essentials and cuts clutter elsewhere in the bathroom. Once we got the under-sink situation under control, the drawers had so much more room too! Good use of space means everything you need is at your fingertips, saving time and easing stress during your daily routine.
Cutting Down on Clutter
Clutter can make a bathroom feel chaotic and cramped, while an organized space feels calm and orderly. Decluttering under your sink frees up room for things you use regularly and ends the frustration of hunting for misplaced products. We threw away a lot of half-empty boxes and products we no longer needed. Hooray!
Keeping Things Clean
An organized area under the sink is easier to clean and maintain. Good storage helps keep bathroom products clean, dry and free of dust or mildew. You can see what you have so you actually use it, and things stay fresher instead of getting grimy in the dark back of a cabinet.

Before You Start: Work Out Your Needs
Take Inventory
Before you start organizing, take stock of what you have. Empty everything out from under your sink and sort items into groups by type or size. That gives you a clear picture of what needs storing and which storage solutions you'll need.
I knew that since we had several larger bottles, we'd need an open drawer on top of one of the units I used. They would be too tall to fit in a closed drawer.
Measure Your Space
Measure the area under your sink, including height, width and depth. Note any obstacles, such as pipes. These numbers will help you choose storage that fits your space perfectly. I made sure everything I picked would fit.

Choosing the Right Storage Solutions
So, let me remind you where we started…

And how it looks now!

Ahhh, much better! I removed the two humidifiers at the back of the cabinet, since we haven't used them since my girls were babies. Now she can see everything she needs, and it's all neat and organized! Let's go over some of the pieces we used.
Stackable Bins and Drawers
Stackable bins and drawers are excellent for making the most of vertical space. They let you sort and separate items so everything is easy to reach. Choose clear bins for visibility, or go decorative for a touch of style.
I love the acrylic drawers we bought because they slide out easily and you can see what's inside! They come in a pack of two that stack on top of each other. I used one in each of my girls' bathrooms. The bottom one holds my youngest daughter's collection of lotions, hand sanitizers and body sprays, a girl's dream. Ha!

Over-the-Door Organizers
Over-the-door organizers hang on the inside of cabinet doors. They're perfect for frequently used items such as hair tools. I haven't bought one yet, because my daughter doesn't use her hair tools very often, but we may need one down the road.

Sliding Trays and Shelves
Sliding trays and shelves can be installed inside a cabinet to create extra layers of storage. They're especially useful for items you need often, because you can pull them out and reach products without digging through everything.

Creative DIY Storage Ideas
Repurposed Jars and Containers
Repurposing jars and containers is a budget-friendly way to organize under your sink. Glass jars can hold cotton balls, swabs and hair ties, while plastic containers can store small cleaning supplies. Label each jar or container to keep things orderly and good-looking.

These little container jars aren't recycled ones, but they're very inexpensive and look chic on the countertop. They're perfect for keeping cotton rounds, cotton swabs, floss picks and other small items corralled. I love that they come with pre-made labels as well as blank ones for DIY labeling.
Tension Rods
Tension rods can be fitted horizontally under your sink to hang spray bottles, brushes and cloths. That keeps items off the floor and uses vertical space well. It's a simple, effective fix that adds function without any permanent installation. A great idea for renters!
Countertop Bathroom Storage
Alongside organizing the under-sink storage, it's important to keep the most-used products within reach on the counter. I've tried pretty trays and vessels before, but a cute rotating organizer on the countertop is my favorite solution.
Rotating Makeup Organizer
My girls and I always want our most-used items within reach. I've been using a rotating organizer like the one below for more than seven months, and I absolutely love it! Everything I need stays right where I need it, making my morning and nighttime routines quick and smooth. I also picked up pretty lazy Susans for my girls' bathrooms, and they love them!

Hair Tools Organizer
If you use your hair tools every day like I do, this on-the-counter organizer for hair tools is a lifesaver. I keep my hair dryer plugged in for quick use, and the other tools are easy to grab. I love that they sit in metal cups, so they can cool down while stored in the organizer.

Maintaining Your Organized Space
Regularly Declutter
Make it a habit to declutter the under-the-bathroom-sink storage area regularly. I set aside time about every six months to go through my items, toss anything expired, and remove or donate what I no longer use. That keeps the space tidy and clutter-free!
Label Everything
Labeling bins, drawers and containers makes it easy for everyone in the household to find things and return them to their homes. Labels act as a visual reminder of where things belong, which supports consistency and order.

Final Thoughts
Organizing under your bathroom sink might seem like a small job, but it can make a real difference to your daily routine and the overall look of your bathroom.
I hope these tips and ideas help you turn a chaotic bathroom into a streamlined, functional space.
