Spring is a lovely season of fresh starts and blossoms, so bringing flowers and pastel colours into your table décor is a wonderful way to celebrate. In this post, you’ll discover my favourite spring table decorating ideas.
My dining room is where we gather for special family occasions and holidays. It’s also the first room you see when you walk into my home!
Over the past year I spent several months making it a space that reflects my style and this home, and I’ve finally found time to decorate it for spring!
Before the makeover, it was still painted charcoal grey and held my old DIY farmhouse furniture. It was such fun to add pastels and pretty pinks to the newly refreshed room and make it feel like spring!

With these fresh photos to share, I thought I’d show you some of my favourite ways to decorate the dining room table for spring over the years!

Spring Table Décor Ideas
1. Floral Centrepieces
Combine fresh flowers in pastel shades such as pink, lavender and yellow to make a lovely centrepiece for your table. Arrange them in a vase, or use floral foam for a more structured look.

I love using a faux potted plant as a simple centrepiece on my spring tables, surrounded by smaller florals and greenery.

I’ve even set a plant in a basket to make it taller when I’m decorating a larger table or want something more substantial.

Years ago, I built a long DIY box from scrap wood and filled it with mason jars of faux spring florals. It’s a great way to fill a long table with a beautiful centrepiece that’s easy to remove.
If you don’t have a long tray or box, simply line small vases down the middle of the table for an understated spring centrepiece.

2. Greenery Accents
Add fresh greenery such as ferns, eucalyptus or ivy for a touch of natural beauty. Lay them down as a table runner, or weave them through your floral arrangements.

3. Start with a Basic Charger and Dinner Plate
A simple charger and white dinner plate form the foundation of every table setting. I have two or three chargers I rotate through depending on the season, and sometimes I layer them for extra colour and texture!
I always start with my beaded white dinner plates and build the rest of the look from there.

4. Spring-Themed Dishes
Choose dishes with floral or botanical patterns to bring a touch of spring to your setting. Pastel plates or glasses also complement the rest of your décor.
I find a seasonal salad plate is perfect for switching things up every few months. I love these white dinner plates, and I simply mix and match the salad plates for each new holiday or season!

5. Special Place Settings
Use a small grapevine wreath as a bird’s nest, fill it with crinkle paper or moss and a few eggs, and you have a special touch for each place setting. I used some spring-coloured Easter eggs and my DIY chinoiserie eggs to fill the nests on top of the plates.

You could also slip a napkin through a spring-themed napkin ring at each place. Almost any simple, special décor will work here!
6. Soft-Colored Table Linens or Runners
Pick tablecloths or runners in soft pastels such as blush, mint or sky blue for a serene, springlike feel. Light and pretty is the goal!

My favourite green table runner came from Target, and my blue and green linen napkins are from Hobby Lobby! Décor doesn’t need to be fancy or high-end to look beautiful.
7. Decorative Candles
Bring warmth and light to your table with decorative candles. Choose spring colours and designs, such as floral prints or pastel shades.
Or keep things simple with white candles, like the pillar candles in my spring tablescape below. You could also use battery-operated tapered candles, like the ones in the photo above!

8. DIY Place Cards
Make your own place cards by writing guests’ names on small decorative cards or tags. Spring-themed designs such as flowers, butterflies or birds add a fun, festive touch.

9. Fresh (or Faux) Fruit Displays
Fill your table with a vibrant, colourful display of fresh fruit such as lemons, limes or strawberries. Use them as a centrepiece, or spoon them into small bowls for guests to help themselves.

I love keeping a bowl of faux artichokes on the buffet in my new dining room. They add just the right amount of green, and I love that they look like “food” without any of the fuss.

10. Add Items of Interest
If you’re building an elaborate centrepiece down the middle of the table, consider adding smaller items of interest, such as a ceramic bunny or a basket of eggs. It gives guests a fun surprise when they sit down.

Overall, have fun with your spring table décor and let your creativity create a beautiful, welcoming atmosphere for your family and guests. I hope my ideas inspire you to create your own inviting spring table!
