We got a new light for the foyer!! {And my soul did a happy dance!}
When we moved into this house 6 years ago, I vowed to replace this foyer light ASAP. To me, it looked more like a dusty bug collection bowl than a beautiful light fixture. It did the job of lighting our home, but it was full of bugs and dust, and it hung too high for me to reach and clean.

But as much as I wanted to swap it out, the budget never seemed to stretch that far.
I even wrote a post almost 3 years ago sharing my top 5 favorite lanterns for my entryway.

My photoshopped pendant from 3 years ago …
I never pulled the trigger on any of them, since they all cost between $150 and $350. One lantern was under $100, but I didn't love it. I even went so far as to photoshop each light into my foyer to see which looked best. My favorite from that post was $250. {Although I just checked, and it's on sale for $187 right now – LOL!}
When I found this 4-light Darlana knock-off pendant lantern for less than $90, I was ready to buy it right then and there. Sold!

I love the dark lines that add contrast to the space and break up the round mirror and the round windows above the door. And I wanted something in oil-rubbed bronze, since that's the finish I tend to gravitate toward around here. I'll take it!

If you have no idea what a Darlana pendant light is, you're not alone. I didn't know about them until a few months ago. They're gorgeous lantern lights that show up everywhere and are super expensive. (Check this one out to see what I mean!)

Once I discovered them, I started spotting them everywhere in home decor and design. I'll admit I'm not the most "in the know" when it comes to trendy stuff. I tend to see something I like and go with it. But these trendy, pricey lights are pretty, and I loved that this one looked like them without the huge price tag.
My husband installed our new lantern a few weeks ago, and I can't help but stare at it when I walk by or when I'm sitting on the couch in the living room.

If you caught the installation on Instagram stories, you saw our unconventional use of a farmhouse table. We don't have a ladder tall enough to reach the 12-foot ceilings in our foyer, so we moved the huge farmhouse table under the light and put our ladder on top of it. If you do this, I'm not liable for any injuries, ok?? I'm not recommending this method, just sharing our redneck ingenuity for creative lighting installation.

We use these frosted bent-tip decorative candelabra bulbs with 25 watts in our lantern. They give off a soft, clean glow that lights up the foyer really well.
It was just the update this foyer had been begging for!
