While decorating for Christmas just before our move, I couldn’t resist one last table setting in the dining room. With icy blues and deep velvet navy, this look will carry you right into winter!
The arched window and wainscoting with Wythe Blue walls were some of my favorite features of this home. In fact, that paint color was the very first one I knew I’d use when we moved in. So I just had to dress her up one last time!

The furniture in this room was pretty rustic. I built both the dining room farmhouse table and the sliding barn door buffet myself. It was always so fun to host dinners (usually for Christmas) knowing I had built the table with my own two hands. I even sewed the curtains from a super affordable fabric you can find at the hardware store.

But now that the furniture is in the new house, I think it’s a bit too rustic. So I have big plans to build a new table for the new dining room once the weather warms up a bit!

When I stepped back from decorating the table and buffet, I laughed out loud, because the icy blue tones felt like a bit of Frozen II had sneaked in. We took the girls to see it right around that time, so I’m pretty sure it seeped into my decor.

We loved the movie, by the way, and even though I couldn’t follow the plot to save my life, Kristoff’s 80’s power ballad was my favorite part. Did you see it yet??

One reason I wanted to create this table setting, though, was to show you how easy it is to make a table feel festive! It really doesn’t take much effort to look lovely!

These hyacinth plate chargers have been in my stash forever, and I use them every single season. The same goes for my blue striped table runner. They’re true “capsule wardrobe” staples in my decor stash.
I also have a few plate and bowl options that I simply swap out each season. Adding a seasonal “topper” to your plates or bowls, like these pine cones, really finishes the look without much fuss. You could even tuck name cards into those pine cones if you want to get a little fancy!

I like simple centerpieces, too. I considered turning my fall dough bowl centerpiece into a winter version, but I decided to lay one long garland down the center of the table instead.
I tucked a few chunky candlesticks into the garland for a simple winter look!

I really wanted to buy some slim, curvy brass candlesticks for this look, but I decided to wait until everything settles down after the move. It was a lesson in simply using what I already had, and it turned out just fine!
The sign over the buffet is one I painted a few years ago. Yes, those ARE the lyrics to a Christmas song, but I think the message still rings true in the new year, so it usually stays up through winter. I made it using my “DIY large wooden sign” tutorial.

I hope you enjoyed this last look at my dining room in the old house. I can’t wait to paint the current lime green walls in the new dining room and create a fresh look for winter and spring very soon!
