A Garden and Lemonade Stand Summer Mantel
Lately I’ve been completely captivated by citrus—lemons, grapefruits, oranges, limes, and tangerines. Their bright hues and fresh energy keep creeping into my home decor. If you follow along, you’ve probably noticed I’ve been hinting that citrus will be showing up in my styling more often, and this summer mantel is a perfect example of that shift.

I find myself searching the web for phrases like “lemon watercolor art” and “children’s clothing with lemons.” The cheerful prints and tiny citrus patterns are irresistible. In fact, I have the cutest baby girl outfit arriving soon, dotted with little lemons—too sweet for words.

Creating seasonal mantels is one of my favorite decorating rituals. I don’t always do one for every season—I’ll skip occasionally and let ideas incubate—but when the mood strikes I love to build something fresh and playful. This summer I wanted to move away from purely coastal themes and toward a more garden-inspired vignette: think porch-sitting, fresh-picked fruit, and pops of color that feel like a backyard lemonade stand.

I hunted for the perfect citrus watercolor prints to anchor the mantel and found beautiful downloads from one of my favorite artists, Lindsay Letters. Instant printable art is one of the quickest ways to refresh a space—you can download, print, and hang without delay. For these prints I kept the frames casual and mounted the art with washi tape for a relaxed, cheerful look.

A small, playful watering can from Target (I couldn’t resist!) and a few jars filled with bright fruit help sell that stroll-through-the-garden vibe. I sprinkled in vegetables and other pops of color so the mantel reads more like a summer harvest than a beach scene. This approach feels fresh and unexpected while still being easy to pull together.

Another small project I enjoyed was creating a hand-lettered chalkboard sign. I recently took a hand-lettering class and loved practicing those new skills on an inexpensive chalkboard from Target’s dollar section. It turned out to be one of my favorite finishing touches—personal, imperfect, and charming.

Small details like a jar filled with citrus slices or a stack of summery napkins can make a mantel feel cohesive. One of my favorite styling tricks is the “Citrus Water Bar in a Jar”—a simple, pretty display that doubles as a refreshing offering for guests. It’s decorative and practical, and it pairs perfectly with a lemonade-stand vibe.

If you prefer a simpler approach, family photos and a few seasonal accents are always lovely on a mantel. But if you enjoy switching things up each season, a themed mantel—like this garden and lemonade stand concept—can be an uplifting way to celebrate summer in your home.

How do you like to decorate for summer? Do you go coastal, garden-fresh, or keep things minimal? I’d love to hear which summer decorating ideas you’re drawn to this year.
