It’s that time of year, at least in the South, when the days still run hot, yet back-to-school season is here and football is kicking off!
We’re ready for autumn, but it still feels like summer outdoors, and we’re craving colors, patterns and textures that suit cooler weather. We still have a few months to wait for the weather to catch up, though.

That calls for in-between pieces in our closets, such as autumn hues and dark florals, but the fabrics need to be airy and lightweight.
I picked out some really cute transitional fall dresses on Walmart.com and had them shipped to my house! I love the range of dresses for every occasion, from casual errands around town to a brunch or bridal shower.
These are good-quality pieces from Walmart Fashion in fall colors and patterns, and they layer beautifully. I also love that they don’t break the bank!
My favorite dress of the bunch is this long-sleeve, button-down style that comes in 3 colors. Naturally, I chose the blue and white combination, though I love the other prints too.
The button-tab sleeves let you roll them up or leave them down. And if you do roll them, they stay put! I sized up from my regular size to fit my shoulders, and it was just right. I wore it to my daughter’s Junior Cotillion parents’ meeting and got several compliments.
Another favorite was this ruffled-sleeve, tiered dress, which also comes in several colors. It pairs perfectly with a jean jacket or a long cardigan this fall. I think it would be great for game day when you want to look polished but still feel comfortable and cool! I’m wearing my normal size in the dress below.
