Hi friends! I hope your week is off to a great start! I spent this past weekend freshening up my guest bathroom. {Thanks so much to my mom, who came over and helped with the kiddo and took down my Christmas decor – gasp! – otherwise it would have been up until February!! #hangsheadinshame}

As an Ace Blogger, I was thrilled to team up with Ace Hardware to spruce up the bathroom over a full weekend project. I swapped out all of the hardware, painted the cabinets, and added some fun color and personality, too! I had already shared about painting the walls last week, which did wonders for getting rid of the orange-y builder's beige.

Before I painted and did all of the work this weekend, I hadn't touched the bathroom since we moved in. Well, I did add a shower curtain, but only because it was necessary to make the room work. Everything else was untouched. Let's take a look at the bathroom before.

Guest Bathroom Makeover: Before

The walls were beige, and the cabinets had a honey oak finish, which isn't terrible, but it's not my favorite. {All of the cabinetry in my house is the same.} The towel ring, towel bar, and toilet paper holder were all pretty simple, cheap-looking hardware. They worked fine, but I wanted something a little more substantial. And the faucet was fine, too, but I wanted something a bit fancier.

Let's see how it looks now! Unfortunately, because of the shape and size of this bathroom, it's really hard to get one good shot of all the changes. So you'll have to see it in bits and pieces. It's also tough to take good photos in a room with no natural light. So if the wall colors look a bit off, that's my basic editing skills, not the actual color.

The transformation started with the paint colors on the walls and cabinets. The wall color is Oyster Pearl, and the cabinet color is Ominous Cloud. LOVE them both!

The paint I used is Ace Hardware's Cabinet and Trim paint. The self-leveling is ah-mazing!!

The cabinets look like they came from the factory in this color. I'm going to write a full post on how I painted them and all about the paint, but in the meantime, if you want to try it yourself, check out your local Ace and see if they carry it. If they don't, ask whether they can order it. I had mine shipped to the store specially. But it's oh so worth it! I love this product!! {Just a little tip: paint really thin coats. I had to paint my cabinets three times, but they look incredible!!}

I kept the knobs on the cabinet doors but changed them out on the drawers. I've been wanting bin pulls in my house, and I love these! I have a source list at the bottom of this post so you can buy some for yourself.

My jumping-off point for the color was the Norman Rockwell art. I picked these up at my great-grandmother's house when we were cleaning it out after she passed away 15 years ago. So, literally, for 15 years these art pieces sat in my closet, untouched and unopened. They feel so American to me, giving the guest bath what I call a Traditional Americana style.

When Coach and I got married, I really loved the color red. But as time has gone by, I've tried to remove most reds from my decor. I did get these red towels for my wedding, and several times I've thought about donating or selling them. But I really love them in this bathroom now. The muted gray-blue and red, along with the Norman Rockwell art, make me want to break out into the Star Spangled Banner. I just think it works!

I'm so happy with my new hardware, even the hardware for my toilet paper holder. It's so much more substantial than the old hardware, and it's just so pretty.

Thanks so much for taking the tour. I hope you liked it! I'm so glad to finally have infused a little personality into my blah, bland guest & kid bathroom.
