When March rolls around, I’m ready to shake off the heavy feelings of winter. I’m ready to put away the heavy blankets and darker colors, trade them for fresh air through the windows, and let the sunshine back in. A spring bedroom refresh doesn’t have to mean buying all new decor, either! Often it’s just a few thoughtful swaps that make the whole room feel brighter and more peaceful.

Our bedroom is almost complete, and I decided to add a few spring touches! Since it finally feels intentionally decorated and not just a bunch of random pieces thrown together, I’m more inspired to add seasonal touches. I’m not going overboard, though! Just a few things will brighten the room and make me smile every morning!
Let’s jump into some easy, quick ideas to bring spring into the bedroom!

1. Lighten the Bedding
It’s time to pack away the heavy covers and weighted blankets and bring out lighter spring colors or floral bedding. I normally keep a blue solid duvet cover on the bed, which works well for most seasons. But I tried this new toile bedding to lighten things up even more, especially with the new darker walls. I love it for spring!

Another idea is to skip the duvet entirely and bring in a light throw for the end of the bed!

Tip: Keep the base bedding neutral, like my ivory quilt, so it’s easy to swap covers and throw blankets as the seasons change.
2. Bring in Fresh Flowers or Greenery
Nothing says spring like living plants, or faux flowers if you don’t have a green thumb. I love both faux and real plants, and I’ve been adding them to my home for years! Try a simple grocery store bouquet, faux stems in a ceramic vase, a small (or large) potted plant on a plant stand, or eucalyptus or cherry blossom stems spilling out of a large vase.

I think one potted plant and one vase with faux stems is plenty for a regular 12×10 bedroom. Mine is a little larger than that, with a sitting room attached, so I have two of each! The latest addition is my peace lily next to my large mirror. I also love my large ZZ plant in the sitting room.

This large faux peony bundle is new, along with the medium faceted ceramic vase. I wanted a pretty faux bouquet for my dresser, and this one was the perfect addition!
I also grabbed an old bouquet I had, along with a mint julep cup to use as a small vase for the nightstand. I love the white and light pink stems for spring.

3. Refresh Your Nightstand
I’ve talked at length about how to style your nightstand, but now is as good a time as any to refresh the top of mine.
Start by clearing everything off and adding back only the things that add value: a lamp, a small tray for corralling little objects, a book, flowers or greenery, and maybe a candle. I love my pocket watch clock because it’s one less digital thing in my life, and I think it looks cute! (It even has an alarm!)

On my husband’s side of the bed, I try to give it a more masculine vibe with a book, an amber glass candle, a potted plant and a framed picture. But truth be told, most of this gets pushed to the side for his CPAP machine. I did put his cigar box underneath for a more manly decor piece.

A candle is a great addition to any bedroom for romantic vibes!
4. Change to Light & Seasonal Art
Maybe bring in a few small pieces of blue and white art, or a floral painting. If you have framed art on the wall, grab a free spring printable.
But if you’re like me and have a Frame TV in the bedroom, it’s always fun to pick out a few new seasonal digital art pieces to display across from the bed.

This year I chose a sweet outdoor water scene with a couple of ducks, but I have a few favorites I rotate depending on my mood! (I’ve already finished a beautiful large frame for this TV, and I can’t wait to share it soon!)
I’ve gathered some of my favorite spring TV art ideas below, which will give you a good starting place if you’re looking for your own! The eggs and bunnies are so perfect for Easter!

5. Pretty Throw Pillows
I usually answer “how many throw pillows is too many throw pillows?” with “it’s never too many!” But honestly, in a bedroom, one or two throw pillows is probably plenty!

Since my bedroom has an adjoining sitting area with a sofa, I have three different throw pillow patterns, with a few duplicates. I love these particular pillows all year long, but the blues and greens really lend themselves to spring and summer!

I love repeating elements throughout a room, so I carried the striped pillow from the sofa over to the bed, which ties everything together!

6. Let in More Natural Light
This time of year, I love to open the curtains and let the light in! I love enjoying the view of the outdoors, just without the pollen!

That means swapping heavy drapery for light, airy curtains, or making the extra effort to open the blinds and pull the curtains back. Once the pollen has settled and we’re in the clear, hire someone to clean your windows, or do it yourself! Either way, clean windows will add to the bright, cheery spring vibe.
And whether you’re working with a small space or not, a mirror is always a good idea in the bedroom! Beyond practical uses, like an outfit check before leaving, it bounces light around the room and makes it feel more spacious.

My most recent addition to the bedroom is an oversized mirror, and I love it so much!
7. Just One Spring Piece
If all of this feels like too much, just add one thing! It doesn’t have to be over the top to feel special and seasonal. I only rotated one bedding piece, added a few floral bouquets and changed the TV art. Everything else stays the same most of the year!
So pick one of these and call it a day:
- Floral artwork
- Blue-and-white ginger jar
- Spring-scented candle
- Woven basket with a throw
- Small floral arrangement on the nightstand

Spring always feels like a fresh start, and giving our bedrooms a little seasonal refresh can bring that same peaceful feeling into everyday life. A few lighter layers, fresh flowers and soft colors can completely change how a space feels.
Enjoy starting small and savoring the season!
