What a simple and easy way to fill a large Christmas tree. Both festive and cheap!! DIY Scrapbook Paper Christmas Garland | TheTurquoiseHome.com

Craft this simple scrapbook paper garland. It would look adorable on a Christmas tree or hung across a mantel!

The Christmas trees are up over at The Turquoise Home! Now I’m just adding the finishing details, styling the mantel and the other flat surfaces. My goal is to wrap it all up this weekend so I can tidy the house, because the stacks of Christmas decor boxes might just bury me!

DIY Paper Garland

This year I’ve taken a completely different direction from last year, and I’m in love with it. I’ll share more when I post my full Christmas home tour in December, but let’s just say there is plenty of new decor around here, plus older pieces used in new ways. (My favorite!!)

This is our third Christmas in this house, and the third with a 9-foot tree in the front window. Why does a tree in the window feel so fun and magical? I hope the neighbors don’t mind that it has been lit since the start of November. #noapologies

A 9-foot tree takes a lot of ornaments and decorations to fill, you know? This year it finally feels full and complete. Much of that comes from the scrapbook paper garland I made last week. It is so cheap and easy to make, and it is so incredibly cute!

What you’ll need for a DIY Paper Garland:

– Scrapbook paper (musical notes or whatever you like) – I bought mine on sale at Michael’s for $.16 a page. I bought 7 pages, so $1.12 so far.
– Twine – I had some on hand, but it’s inexpensive at any craft or big box store.
– Glitter – also on hand.
– Scissors or a cutting machine (I used my Silhouette, which is much faster than cutting by hand!)
– Elmer’s glue

This project was so easy, and I really enjoyed catching the latest season of Downton Abbey while crafting late at night.

I didn’t take many process photos. I bought the music note scrapbook paper at Michael’s and used a pennant design from the Silhouette Online Store that I bought a while back. If you own a Silhouette, you can download it HERE. I arranged the pennants on each page so I could fit 9 per sheet.

I used the printer paper cut setting, and it worked well. The scrapbook paper was fairly thin.

You could also cut these out by hand without much trouble. They were about 3 inches wide and 4 inches tall. Just punch holes at the top to thread the twine through.

I creased the middle of each pennant to give it some dimension. Then I ran a thin line of Elmer’s glue along the bottom edge of each one and sprinkled on silver glitter.

I threaded twine through the holes and strung the garland on my tree!

It is simple, and I love the look. You even get a sneak peek at my mostly decorated tree.

Don’t you love that jingle bell burlap ribbon?? I wish I had bought more, because all 3 Hobby Lobbys near me are already sold out. #lessonlearned
