This season I’m prioritizing simplicity. Instead of many small items, I prefer a few larger elements that make a statement. In past years I leaned toward layering lots of little decorations; it was charming, but this year I wanted a cleaner, more relaxed look.
At first glance this tablescape might seem elaborate—after all, there are lots of pumpkins—but the arrangement is built from just three main components: pumpkins, greenery and stems, and bay leaf topiaries. By limiting the types of items, the display feels composed rather than cluttered.
I used items I already owned, which is a great way to create an inviting seasonal look without buying anything new. I have a stash of pumpkins collected over the years, and grouping them together creates an abundant, warm centerpiece without extra effort.

I started with a light blue and cream striped runner I’ve had for years; it’s neutral enough to work with any season and helps ground the arrangement. If you don’t have that exact runner, any neutral or subtly patterned runner will give the same cohesive effect.
Once the runner was in place, I clustered pumpkins down the center of the table and added bay leaf topiaries at each end to create balance and vertical interest. Topiaries frame the arrangement and make the composition feel finished.
I also placed a large blue mason jar in the center filled with burgundy and cream floral stems. A single, well-chosen floral arrangement adds color and texture and ties the palette together without competing with the pumpkins.
For place settings I used woven water hyacinth placemats to add an organic texture and contrast to the smooth pumpkins. Chargers like these work with nearly any style and instantly elevate a table setting.
This summer I added turquoise melamine place settings to our collection. They give the table a fresh pop of color while being practical for family meals, since they’re durable and kid-friendly. To keep the look cohesive and effortless, I stayed with the white and cream napkins I already had.
To finish each setting, I placed a mini pumpkin in each bowl and folded a simple cloth napkin beneath it. This small detail is an easy way to personalize each place and reinforces the seasonal theme without making the table feel busy.
