Woodland Nursery Gallery Wall Ideas for Baby Girls

One can dream so much better in a room where there are pretty things.

– L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

Finishing this nursery has been a slow and steady process. To be honest, juggling DIY projects around a baby’s nap schedule—and also caring for a preschooler—has made progress slower than I expected. Still, little by little the room has come together, and completing the gallery wall felt like a real milestone.

The gallery wall is a curated collection of pieces I love that reinforce the woodland nursery theme. Some of the items were part of my original design board on TheTurquoiseHome.com and have been waiting in a closet for months, patiently ready for their place on the wall.

When I arranged everything on the floor to plan the layout, I realized the grouping needed one finishing element to feel balanced and complete. That inspired me to create a moss and flower initial to complement the other pieces—an easy, textured focal point that ties into the woodland aesthetic. A DIY tutorial for the initial will be shared soon.

I also framed one of Baby G’s five-month photos to include among the prints. I temporarily printed a copy at home while I wait for the professional prints to arrive—photo by Amanda Owens Photography—and I love the sweet, expressive look she has in this shot. Including personal photos alongside art and handmade pieces makes the wall feel uniquely ours.

As the room comes together, I’ve intentionally limited what I show in photos—focusing mainly on the gallery wall for now. I removed some items from the nightstand below to keep the area visually calm and to let the wall be the focal point.

My baby girl is growing so quickly—she’s nearly six months old already—and finishing this corner of her room felt especially meaningful. Small moments like arranging frames and hanging a little handmade initial make the nursery feel warm and personal.

I still have one more DIY project planned before the full room reveal, so the complete nursery tour is coming soon. I’m hopeful it will all be ready before she turns one—fingers crossed!

If you’re planning a gallery wall for a nursery or any other room, here are a few practical tips I used while arranging mine:

  • Start by laying everything on the floor to experiment with composition—moving pieces around is much easier there than on the wall.
  • Mix textures and materials to add depth: canvas, framed photos, wooden shapes, and a handmade element like a moss initial give visual interest.
  • Include a personal item like a photo or a DIY piece to make the display meaningful and unique to your family.
  • Maintain a color palette that complements the room—soft neutrals and muted woodland colors kept the nursery calm and cohesive.
