Personalized Wooden Monogram Wreath for Front Door

Happy Monday! I hope your weekend gave you a chance to rest and recharge. We were finally home after nearly two months away, and I dove into some much-needed cleaning. I’m definitely a homebody, so being gone that long was wearing on me. There’s something so restorative about a quiet, lazy weekend at home.

Being home also gave me the chance to tackle a small DIY project for the first time in ages. It felt great—right up until I stapled my thumb while attaching the monogram. Pulling the staple out was no fun, and by evening my thumb was definitely sore. Lesson learned: take your time and maybe wear gloves next time.

If you follow my Instagram page, you might have seen this already—my husband (aka Coach) spray painted a lovely wooden monogram for me. I’d been eyeing one for months and finally bought an 18-inch Classic Viney style with some saved holiday money. Since I’m pregnant, I let him handle the spray painting. He did a fantastic job getting thin, even coats over the whole piece. Teamwork for the win.

Painting Prep for the Wooden Monogram

After painting, I attached floral wire to the back of the monogram so it could hang securely. That’s when the stapling mishap happened. Once the wire was in place, I mounted the monogram to a simple burlap wreath I’ve used for other seasons. I love how the neutral burlap pairs with the clean white monogram—simple, classic, and perfect for a front door.

The burlap wreath itself is one of my go-to quick decor projects because it’s so versatile and easy to update for different seasons. For now, I kept the look minimal. At first the wreath felt a little plain with just the monogram, so I added the pink polka-dot bow I had leftover from Miss A’s third birthday. The bow isn’t a permanent choice—just a temporary pop of color until I can find something that feels more seasonal or nautical for summer.

Full disclosure: I haven’t switched my home decor from spring to summer yet. As a decor blogger, that might seem like a cardinal sin, but life happens. We’ll be sticking with the summer mantel from a couple of years ago for now, and I’m already dreaming about fall decorating—my favorite. With cooler weather teasing us this week, I almost felt like it was football and chili season. Unfortunately, here in North Alabama the humidity usually returns to its usual muggy self soon enough.

I appreciate the simplicity of this wooden monogram burlap wreath. It’s easy to update—swap the bow, add some seasonal picks, or layer in a few small accents—and it instantly refreshes the entryway. For readers looking for an easy DIY wreath idea: choose a neutral base like burlap, add a painted wooden monogram for focal interest, and secure everything with floral wire and staples (carefully!).

On a related note, I have to mention shopping seasonally at the craft stores. I enjoy browsing, but I get a little overwhelmed when holiday decor appears months in advance. For example, seeing Christmas items out as early as May makes it hard to stay present in summer. I prefer to savor each season before the next one takes over the aisles.

So that’s the update: a freshly painted wooden monogram, a trusty burlap wreath, and a temporary bow until I find the perfect summer or fall accents. I’m already excited to dress it up for autumn, but for now I’m enjoying the simple look. How do you feel about early holiday displays—do you embrace them or wait for the right season?
