I’m completely smitten with my magnolia wreath Christmas mantel decor. The magnolia wreath has quickly become my favorite piece this season—rustic, timeless, and the perfect focal point for a cozy holiday mantel. Enjoy the tour of my mantel and living room holiday styling!

It’s finally time to share this year’s Christmas mantel reveal, and I couldn’t be more excited. For a home decor blogger, the Christmas home tour is the big moment of the year—the culmination of months of planning, sourcing, and tweaking. I change a few things each year, introduce some new pieces, and keep a handful of treasured traditions. This year the star is a magnolia wreath, complemented by unexpected pops of navy and dusty blue for a fresh holiday palette.
I plan my Christmas mantel months in advance. I pin ideas, search for inspiration, and gather a few key items until everything finally comes together. The magnolia wreath I used is one of those pieces I fell for and left on the mantel early so I could build the rest of the decor around it. Over time I added layers—artwork, pillows, ribbon, and smaller accents—until the mantel felt balanced and warm.

I repurposed two watercolor prints that I’d purchased last year—one featuring a Scripture and the other a hymn—which work beautifully beside the wreath. These meaningful prints add a personal, reflective touch to the mantel and help anchor the display without competing with the wreath’s texture.

A small wooden “joy” sign from a holiday shop felt like the perfect accent tucked into the wreath. I painted it a muted blue (leftover paint in Stratton Blue by Benjamin Moore) to coordinate with the navy tones used elsewhere. The subtle dusty blue contrasts with the magnolia’s warm leaves for a cozy, layered look.

Navy plaid ribbon is woven through candles and echoed in buffalo check pillows—a small design choice that ties the mantel to the rest of the living room and hints at the ribbon I’ll use on the big dining room tree. The plaid and buffalo check bring a classic, slightly rustic feel that balances the magnolia’s natural elegance.

The buffalo check pillows have been on my wishlist for a while; they finally made it onto the couch and instantly warmed up the seating area. Because we live in a busy family home, I consider practicality when styling: non-breakable ornaments and lower-hung decorations go on the tree where the kids frequently play, while more delicate items live on the dining room tree behind a baby gate.

One of my favorite family traditions is choosing a new ornament for each child every year that reflects something they loved. This year my eldest will receive a box-of-crayons ornament to celebrate her first year of kindergarten, and the younger one will get a baby doll ornament since she adores dolls. These small, meaningful ornaments become part of a hodgepodge tree that tells our family’s story.

I also added a few decorative touches to the tree this year—wooden skis, plaid ribbon, and thoughtfully placed accents—so it feels both personal and styled. Mixing sentimental ornaments with a few curated pieces gives the tree a cozy, magazine-worthy look without losing the family warmth that makes the season special.
