October has arrived, and this is when autumn finally starts to feel real to me, even if Alabama's weather hasn't gotten the memo! (Still, those crisp mornings are lovely!) Our fall calendar is always packed, so I enjoy decorating in a way that can carry our home right through Thanksgiving.
Rather than swapping everything out every few weeks, I begin with a cozy autumn base: warmer tones, soft throws, natural textures, pretty branches and a handful of pumpkins. From there I can slip in a bit of Halloween for the girls or make small tweaks for Thanksgiving without starting from scratch.
If you haven't decorated yet, or your house still feels like it's missing something, there's no need to tackle every room. (Save your strength for Christmas, like I do. Ha!) Pick one gathering space, add two or three seasonal layers and call it good. A cozy home comes together one considered detail at a time.
