Here's a list of guest room essentials to help your guests feel welcome and at home, away from home.
A dedicated guest bedroom is such a nice luxury when visitors come to stay. In our old house, my office was in the guest room, so when guests came I either had to tidy up and move out, or put my girls in one room together and let guests take over one of theirs.

Now I have a dedicated office on the first floor, and the guest bedroom has its own en suite bathroom. It's a luxury I don't take for granted. I love it whenever someone wants to stay with us, because hosting is so much easier with this setup!
This room was pulled together with things I already had or could buy quickly. When we moved in, several family members came to help us get settled, so I had to get it ready fast. I still haven't painted the walls!
For now this space works, and we're hosting with what we have. It's been great not to wait and just invite people over! Love it!

I've rounded up a few favorite things I like to have in the room when people visit. I've always loved seeing what others keep in their guest rooms, like the wifi login details, or a basket of extras in case someone forgets something.
So, let's dive in!

Guest Bedroom Essentials to Help Guests Feel at Home
1. Luggage Rack
Giving guests a place to put their luggage is essential. Even if the room is too small for a luggage rack, leave enough floor space for a bag. I always appreciate having somewhere to open my suitcase. I like my luggage rack because it has a lower shelf for shoes or another bag!

2. Plenty of Towels and Washcloths
If guests are staying the night, they'll likely need the shower or something to wash and dry their face at night. Plenty of plush towels and washcloths is key! These soft, beautiful ones are great and won't break the bank!

3. Space in a Closet or on Hooks
Besides luggage space, guests need somewhere to hang their clothes. Leave room in the closet, or add a hook system on the wall.
These pegboard hooks are perfect for hanging clothes or a bag, or for keeping a spare robe handy for guests!

4. A Chair
Of course your guest room will have a bed, but it's also nice to include a chair where guests can relax or sit while putting on their shoes.
5. Wi-Fi Network & Password
Doesn't it feel like home when your phone connects to the Wi-Fi automatically? Make it easy for guests to get online by posting the network name and password right in their room!

This adorable Wi-Fi password dry erase sign is perfect for making guests feel right at home!
6. Extra Toiletries
If you've ever forgotten a toothbrush or deodorant, you know how nice it is to find one waiting at your destination. I love this hyacinth basket for keeping them all corralled together.

Providing these little extras means guests won't have to make a trip to the store, which leaves more time to spend together!
Good extras to offer include: toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, dental floss, hairspray, mouthwash, headache medicine, nail clippers, feminine hygiene products, hair dryer, Q-tips, cotton swabs, and more.
I always keep extra body wash, shampoo and conditioner in the guest bathroom.
7. Water Bottles
I always need a water bottle by my bed at night, so I keep one available in case a guest forgot their own!
8. Snacks
Whenever I travel, I get hungry. If I didn't pack snacks, it's nice to find a granola bar or something when I arrive. Or someone might get the midnight munchies and not want to dig around in an unfamiliar kitchen.
9. Extra Phone Charger
We've already had guests forget their chargers, so it's always a welcome surprise when I tell them there's already an extra one in the room!

We have extra plugs and USB ports in the back of our nightstands, but if you don't, consider offering an extension cord like this one!
10. Clock
Most people use their phones as a clock, but screen fatigue is real. It's nice to put your phone down and still check the time from an adorable table clock like this one!
11. Tissues
In my opinion, every bedroom needs this!
12. White Noise Machine
We are big white noise fans! You can use a phone app, but a white noise machine in the room is nice too!

13. Fan
I have to sleep with a fan so I can feel the air moving at night. If the guest room doesn't have a ceiling fan, consider offering a floor fan. Some people like it cooler than you keep your house at night, and a fan always helps!
14. Extra Blanket
Just as some guests run hot, others run cold and might appreciate an extra blanket.
15. Night Light
Giving someone the option of a night light in a new place is always a good idea. I love these decorative night lights, which look good, switch on at dusk, and can be easily removed if not needed.
16. Full-Length Mirror
Any mirror helps, but a full-length mirror is best!
17. Trash Can
There's hardly anything worse than holding trash with nowhere to put it. Don't leave guests without a place for luggage tags or wrappers. This hyacinth waste basket is so cute and has a built-in liner.
