Fall Home Tour: Festive Autumn Decorating Ideas

Welcome to my Happy Fall-i-days Home Tour! I’m delighted you stopped by. If you think you’ve seen every corner of a home dressed for autumn, think again—I saved one room just for today. While I was at it, I tidied up the rest of the living area and snapped some photos to share.

I hope you enjoy the fall accents I’ve added around the house. “Fall-i-rizing” is my term for accessorizing for autumn. It took a bit of time to get everything picture-ready—especially with a toddler home from preschool—so please forgive any signs of real life. And yes, remember to wash your hands when you leave. 🙂

Come on in!

Let’s step inside. Turn left through the front door and you’ll find the dining room dressed up for fall. I’ve even set the table to give you a sense of how seasonal tabletop decor can transform the space.

Full disclosure: the “wine” glasses contain watered-down apple juice. The two-year-old may have sampled one while I took photos. Also, I currently have four side chairs; I plan to build a bench for one side of the table eventually, when I find the time.

I found this patchwork table runner after Christmas last year at Pottery Barn. It’s always worth checking post-holiday sales for tabletop textiles—this runner fits my table perfectly, which can be hard to find.

Instead of buying seasonal napkins, I wrapped plain white napkins with a strip of fall-print fabric I picked up at Joann’s. It’s an easy, budget-friendly way to add color and pattern to a tablescape.

For the centerpiece I wrapped a simple glass vase in burlap, tied it with a fabric scrap, and filled it with faux berries, twigs, and leaves. A tall centerpiece works well on a long table and adds vertical interest without crowding place settings.

You can also see my new drop cloth curtains here. They’re hemmed, and I’m planning a subtle embellishment when I have a spare moment. These neutral curtains give me a flexible backdrop so I can change accent colors with the seasons. In the summer I switch back to lighter curtains for a more breezy feel.

I added small wreaths to the backs of dining chairs for an extra touch of fall charm—an idea inspired by a favorite seasonal home tour I admired. A few simple, handmade accents like these can make a dining set feel intentional and festive.

I love the fall vignette in the entryway—layered textures, seasonal greenery, and warm lighting make a welcoming first impression. Small seasonal swaps on a console table go a long way toward setting the tone for the rest of the home.

I swapped a few prints in my entryway gallery to replace summer-themed art with pieces that feel more autumnal. Rotating artwork seasonally is an easy refresh that keeps the space feeling current without a major overhaul.

On to the living room: I’ve shared my fall mantel in previous posts, and I’m still enjoying the layered look of planked wood, mixed textures, and seasonal accents. Mantels are a natural focal point for fall decor, and a few well-chosen pieces can create a cozy, collected display.

I also refreshed a cozy reading corner with warm throws, textured pillows, and a small side table for a lamp and a cup of tea. Creating a dedicated spot for quiet moments makes the living room feel inviting and lived-in.

Next, we’ll move into the eat-in kitchen. I kept the kitchen decor simple and practical because this is the room we use every day. A quick cleanup and a few seasonal touches—like a gingham runner and a bowl of pine cones—make it feel festive without compromising function.

I turned a gingham tablecloth found at a yard sale into a runner—thrifted finds can be wonderful sources for seasonal textiles. Natural elements like pine cones are an easy, inexpensive way to bring autumn indoors.

We finish the tour back in the living room to admire the gallery wall and a scrappy pumpkin I added to the kitchen bar counter. Typography art printed on canvas—like the fall subway art I have—adds a modern, graphic touch that complements softer seasonal elements.

I truly enjoy mixing thrifted and handmade pieces with a few purchased accents to create a layered, approachable fall home. Small changes—textiles, natural elements, and a few seasonal accents—can refresh an entire room and make your home feel warm and welcoming for autumn.
