Create a Stunning Faux Foliage Table Centerpiece

Creating beautiful faux floral centerpieces is one of my favorite ways to refresh a room. A well-composed floral focal point can define a table, mantel, or console for any season or holiday. In this guide, I’ll show you how to style a floral centerpiece using a simple wooden box, mason jars, faux lamb’s ear, eucalyptus, and mini pumpkins. The arrangement is easy to change, so you can update it for different seasons or special occasions.

How to Arrange a Faux Foliage Centerpiece

I built the wooden box used in these photos last spring and have used it on my dining table and mantel ever since. It’s a versatile display piece that keeps coming back into my decor rotation. If you enjoy DIY woodworking, a simple box like this is easy to make from scrap or a basic board from the hardware store; just make it wide enough to hold standard mason jars.

What You’ll Need for Your Floral Centerpiece

  • Faux lamb’s ear stems (soft, silvery greenery)
  • Faux eucalyptus stems for texture and height
  • Faux mini pumpkins or other seasonal stems for focal accents
  • A wooden box or tray to hold the display
  • Standard mason jars (these act as vases and help the stems drape naturally)
  • Any other faux florals or stems you love — mix textures and colors

This project is very forgiving and works well whether you’re a beginner or experienced crafter. The mason jars are the key—they anchor the stems and let the foliage spill over the edges of the box for a natural, layered look.

Step-by-step:

  • Place the mason jars evenly inside the wooden box. My box holds seven jars, but yours can hold more or fewer depending on length. The jars create structure and keep stems upright.
  • Begin by arranging the faux lamb’s ear and eucalyptus around the outside of the jars. Tuck stems between jars and let some leaves drape over the box edge for softness. Fluff and bend stems to add fullness—faux foliage benefits from a little shaping.
  • Fill the mason jars with your focal stems. In my fall version I used small faux pumpkins that already had foliage attached; for florals, trim stems as needed and cluster complementary pieces in each jar.
  • Step back and tweak: move stems, add height with taller eucalyptus, or fill gaps with more lamb’s ear. Rearrange until the balance and flow feel right.

When the sides are full and the jars are filled with focal stems, the centerpiece will look finished. For seasonal swaps, simply remove or replace the objects in the jars—switch pumpkins for napkin-wrapped branches in winter, flowers in spring, or citrus and greenery for summer.

Tips for a lasting faux arrangement:

  • Mix textures: pair soft lamb’s ear with round pumpkins and spiky eucalyptus for visual interest.
  • Vary heights: place taller stems toward the center or back if using on a mantel, shorter ones toward edges for a table display so sightlines stay clear.
  • Keep proportions in mind: scale the box and jars to the table size—don’t overcrowd a small table with a long, tall centerpiece.
  • Storage and refresh: faux stems are durable—store them in a cool, dry place when not in use and gently fluff them before rehanging for a fresh look.

It’s a simple process but the result makes a big impact. This style of centerpiece is ideal for everyday decorating and holiday tables alike because it’s easy to update—swap a few jars or stems and you’ve got an entirely new look.
