Blush and Brass Office Mood Board: Feminine Office Decor

A feminine blush-and-brass home office creates an inspiring workspace for any entrepreneur. The soft blush tones paired with warm brass accents make a delightful, girly corner of the house that’s both pretty and productive.

In my 2020 Home Goals post, I wrote that my first full makeover in the new house would be the office—and I’m finally getting to it!

Tackling one room at a time has made me realize how easy it is to become overwhelmed by inspiration. Having a clear goals list and a mood board helps me stay focused so I can make decisions and move forward instead of endlessly pinning ideas.

How to Start a Room Makeover

When I begin a room makeover, I like to pick one large, inspirational item first—usually a rug, curtains, or a piece of art. Those big pieces often define the color palette and tone of the space, making it easier to choose the rest of the decor.

For this office I started with a rug out of necessity: I needed to protect my newly refinished floors from my rolling desk chair. I searched for a “blush rug” and immediately found one I loved—its soft tones set the foundation for the whole room.

A quick piece of advice I use when I’m stuck: if a piece fits the space and you love it, buy it. Avoid overthinking every decision—move forward and adjust as you go.

Why I Chose to Makeover the Office First

An inspiring workspace makes it easier to design the rest of the house. The office is also one of the first rooms guests see when they enter, so I wanted it to reflect the tone I plan to carry throughout the home.

Here’s what the office looked like when we first moved in.

The lime green walls didn’t work for the vibe I wanted, so I had the room painted right away.

My goal is to refresh every room in this house, which will take time, but the office needs only paint and styling—no major renovations. Here’s my current project list for the office:

  • Finish organizing the space (mostly done)
  • Paint the walls Shoji White (Sherwin Williams) — see my favorite white paint colors
  • Add an overhead light (I’ll hire an electrician to run wiring)
  • Install blinds on the French doors—leaning toward bamboo blinds
  • Remove old curtains and hang new floral curtains (ordered and arriving in March)
  • Rug
  • Make decorative panels for the back of the desk—the materials are ready
  • Style the built-in bookshelves with curated decor and greenery
  • Order or DIY wall art for behind the desk and adjacent wall
  • Hang calendar and art behind the desk
  • Replace or tone down shiny hardware—either swap knobs for matte brass or use Rub ‘n Buff

I’ve crossed off a few items already and aim to finish the office by April 1. I’m optimistic I’ll get it done—and I’ll share progress along the way.

Below is the mood board that guided my selections. Seeing everything together makes it easier to visualize the finished room.
