Nursery Paint Update: Why I Chose Benjamin Moore Lido Green
I finally picked a paint color and finished painting the nursery — a big check off my to-do list. I did it while 29 weeks pregnant and with my energetic three-year-old home from school, so I’m calling it a win. Getting this done felt like a tiny victory and reminded me I still have some DIY stamina left.

When I started hunting for the perfect nursery paint color, I narrowed it down to two shades that I liked online: Robin’s Nest and Lido Green. Browsing Pinterest and photo galleries first really helped—seeing colors in real rooms gives you a better sense of their undertones and how they read with natural light. If you’re planning a nursery makeover, I highly recommend gathering inspiration images before you visit the paint store.

Even after picking up the paint swatches, I still assumed I would go with Robin’s Nest. But this is a great example of why you must always paint color samples on your wall before making a final choice. Swatches alone can be misleading. Once both colors were painted onto the wall, Lido Green instantly felt right — lighter and more refreshing than the darker Robin’s Nest. The photos don’t capture the color perfectly, but in person Lido Green reads as a soft, blue-green mint that brightens the room and keeps the space feeling airy.
If I had to tweak it, I might have had the paint mixed at 50% to make it just a touch lighter, but I’m very happy with the shade as it is. For anyone choosing nursery paint: test full-size samples on different walls and observe them at various times of day. Light direction, window size, and nearby furnishings all affect how a color looks once it’s on the wall.

Before the paint, the room was the standard builder’s beige that matched a lot of our house when we moved in. I didn’t stage the “before” photos — life’s been busy and cleaning wasn’t the priority — but I did tidy up for the after shots so you can see the impact of the color change.

The transformation is subtle but meaningful. Lido Green brings a fresh, serene feel to the space that feels perfect for a baby girl’s nursery. I’m excited to start adding decor — artwork, textiles, and soft lighting will make it feel cozy and complete. I already have a canvas I love and some sweet accents in mind that will work with the new wall color.

Next on the list is painting the furniture. I plan to use chalk paint for a smooth, matte finish that’s forgiving and easy to distress if I want that look. I’ll test a small cabinet first and then tackle the larger pieces. If you’re painting nursery furniture, consider prep work like light sanding and a good primer where needed — it makes a big difference in adhesion and durability.

There’s still plenty to do in the nursery, but I’m optimistic it will be ready well before baby arrives in about six and a half weeks. With a clear plan — paint the walls, paint the furniture, then add decor — the project feels manageable even on a tight timeline.
What do you think of Lido Green for a baby girl’s nursery? Is it a keeper or would you pass?
