This traditional 6-light brass chandelier is a gorgeous, budget-friendly light fixture!
For months I knew I wanted a new chandelier over the kitchen table. The original light that came with the house was an eyesore, but replacing it wasn’t an immediate priority—until one of the glass panes began to fall out. When we removed that pane, we discovered a crack in the opposite side, and it became clear the fixture was a safety hazard that needed replacing.
I set out to find a casually elegant chandelier that would suit the space, and I shared all my favorites in a separate kitchen chandelier roundup. I had a really hard time choosing—there were so many great options—but the comments and feedback I received from readers helped me refine the style I wanted. One reader even suggested swapping the shades on a particular fixture, so I ordered additional shades for a custom look.

And the winner is… Ta da! I’m thrilled with the choice.

The 6-light traditional brass chandelier I picked is both beautiful and easy to install. Lighting is one of the simplest and most impactful ways to transform a room, and this fixture completely changed the feel of our kitchen. I love the warmth of the brass finish and the classic silhouette—it reads timeless and a little bit coastal, which suits the rest of the home’s style.
Originally I was leaning toward a fixture with seagrass shades because I love the natural texture they bring. Seagrass adds a subtle coastal touch and lovely daytime character. But many of the seagrass-style fixtures I liked were out of stock or offered only a single bulb, and I needed ample light over the dining table. A 6-light chandelier felt like the right balance: decorative, with plenty of brightness for everyday tasks.
I ordered two different sets of seagrass shades to try on this chandelier, and during the day I absolutely adored the look. The texture and tone were spot-on.

However, at night the darker seagrass shades limited the fixture’s brightness more than I expected. The room felt dim and cozy in a way that didn’t work for our dinners—I like to be able to clearly see what I’m serving and eating. After testing the seagrass options, I decided to return them and keep the original white shades. The white shades let the light disperse more evenly and keep the kitchen bright in the evening while still looking clean and classic during the day.
Here’s a side-by-side comparison I took to show the difference between the seagrass and the white shades. You can see how much the shade choice affects both mood and light level.

A few practical notes if you’re considering a similar chandelier:
- Choose a multi-light fixture if you need plenty of task light over a dining or kitchen table. Six bulbs provide strong, even illumination for meals and prep.
- Consider shade color and material carefully: darker, textured shades look great by day but will reduce brightness at night. White or translucent shades maximize light output.
- Installation on this fixture was straightforward—basic wiring and a mounting bracket—and the chandelier took only a short time to hang and level. If you’re unsure about wiring, hire an electrician for safety and peace of mind.
- Try bulbs with adjustable brightness or use a dimmer switch to tailor the light to different occasions: bright for tasks, softer for cozy dinners.
