Ready to find peace in your home again?
You can’t create a beautiful, functional home while it’s full of clutter. Join a focused 30-day decluttering and home-organization challenge to build routines, clear the chaos, and create a calm, usable space. Whether you’re naturally tidy or not, this gentle, practical plan will help you form lasting habits and regain margin in your life.
Every day of the challenge is listed below. Each day includes a small, doable task designed to help you declutter, organize, and simplify your home so you can focus on what matters most.
How it all began
Most of us live busy lives and end up with messy, cluttered homes. For years I kept my calendar and house so full that I could hardly breathe. I wanted the home to be a place of comfort—a refuge from outside chaos—but instead it often felt stressful and overwhelming. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone.

I’m not aiming for perfection. I don’t expect an immaculate, magazine-ready home every day—that’s unrealistic, especially with young children and two working parents. Instead, I want a home that functions well for our family: spaces that are predictable, easy to maintain, and welcoming.

When I asked readers what their biggest barriers were to creating a home they love, two answers rose to the top: organization and time. I relate—I need both.
One morning, running out the door, I thought, “I am such a hot mess.” That sparked the idea: what if we spent 30 days intentionally becoming “less of a hot mess”? The goal is simple: declutter the chaos, build useful systems, and create margin in both our homes and our calendars.

What I mean by margin is simple: white space in closets, clear floors, and breathing room in the schedule so you can be present with the people you love. Decluttering isn’t just about getting rid of things; it’s about creating space to enjoy life. Fewer possessions means less time spent managing them and more time for meaningful moments.
Over the next 30 days I’ll focus on the “hot mess zones” of my home, share honest updates, and offer short, actionable tasks—what I call “The Messy Work.” If you join, I’ll be right there with you, encouraging and accountable.

A few requests before you start: focus on this one challenge for the next 30 days. Don’t try to learn a dozen other systems at once. Commit to this single plan, master it, and you’ll see results you’ll thank yourself for. Multi-tasking often stalls progress—be all in on decluttering and building simple routines.
I’m cheering for you—let’s make space for what matters most.
In the mess with you,
Laura
P.S. Most days will include a short “Messy Work” task. These are practical, quick actions to move you forward. If you want a head start, try this simple exercise:
The Messy Work: Grab two trash bags and set a 30-minute timer. Quickly walk through your home and fill one bag with trash and the other with items to donate. Toss the trash immediately and drop off donations at a local charity when you can.
