If you’re wondering how many updates this living room makeover will have — probably more than one — I promise the reveals are almost complete. I have one or two final touches to finish before the big reveal, so stay tuned! I wrapped up the board-and-batten trim late one night (technically early Thursday morning) after finishing the final coats of paint. It was worth the late hour: we were able to put the living room back together before leaving town last weekend, and the space already feels fresh and cohesive. I’m so happy with how it’s coming together, though I still have a handful of finishing details to add before sharing everything.
If you follow me on Instagram (@turquoisehome), you may have seen this photo a couple of weeks ago:

I had a great find at Target that day. I’d been hunting for turquoise vases for some time and hoped a Target about 30 minutes away might still have them. At first I didn’t find them in the vase aisle and felt bummed, but as I kept wandering I discovered a clearance section filled with pieces from Target’s Modern Cottage Home Decor collection marked down 50% — score! I’d had my eye on the lamp bases and vases since January, so finding them on clearance was a thrill.
Once home, I began styling the new pieces in the living room. I cleared some decor from around the TV and placed the two blue lamps on either side for symmetry and a simple, polished look. The turquoise lamp bases coordinate nicely with the dining room and kitchen walls, which helps carry color through the open-concept space. The result is a subtle but cheerful color thread that ties the rooms together.

I also refreshed the mantel using a mix of items I already owned plus the new blue vases. I like that it reads as light and spring-like without feeling overdone. The pop of turquoise livens the neutral wall and balances well with other accents across the room.

A few notes about the mantel pieces: the floral arrangement idea came from an earlier spring mantel post, and the small bird figurine is a sentimental find from a Target run a few years ago — still one of my favorites. The punched ceramic piece was a recent Michael’s find, and the candle and holder are from IKEA. Together they give the mantel a fresh, simple look for the season.

This week I also received a set of blue mason jars in the mail that I adore. Paired with pink carnations they make such a cheerful display — the combination brings an instant burst of color and personality to the room, especially in the morning light.

The jars are from Ball’s Heritage Collection and were released as a limited-edition blue pint jar. I grabbed a set because I love the vintage tint — it complements the new turquoise accents and the overall color palette of the makeover. Blue jars, glass lamps, and a few well-placed accessories have been an easy way to inject color while keeping the space calm and stylish.

Here are a few more close-ups — I love waking up to the sight of blue jars filled with pink blooms. It feels bright and hopeful, and that little touch of color makes a big difference to the room’s mood.

Do you collect blue jars or blue accessories? I can’t seem to get enough — they’re versatile, timeless, and they add a happy touch to any room.
