Miss A’s Pink and Turquoise Nursery
Welcome to Miss A’s room. I can hardly believe she’s almost two and that I’ve finally completed her space the way I imagined. Between moving into a new house and a trip to Atlanta to pick up IKEA shelving, this room became a truly collected, long-term labor of love. The result is a bright, feminine nursery in pink and turquoise tones that balances playful accents with practical storage.

Personal Touches and DIY Details
One of my favorite features is a reworked Instagram photo collage I originally intended to use with a chevron background. The pattern felt too busy for the room, so I reconfigured the piece: I removed the chevron, rotated the frame, and added jute twine to create a softer, more textured photo display. This simple DIY tweak gave the collage new life and fits the nursery’s handmade, layered aesthetic. I’ll be adding more snapshots as I collect tiny clothespins to hang new memories.

Smart Storage with IKEA Expedit
The IKEA Expedit shelving has been a game changer. It was easy to assemble, remarkably sturdy, and provides much-needed open and concealed storage for toys, books, and textiles. Using cubes and baskets helps keep the room tidy while still allowing easy access to frequently used items. Durable shelving is essential in a nursery where organization and quick cleanups matter every day.

Fabrics, Colors, and Finishing Touches
The palette mixes soft pinks and turquoise accents with creamy neutrals to keep the scheme warm and inviting. Textiles include pillows, curtains, and small hoop-art fabrics chosen for their tactile and visual interest. Pom-pom garlands and fabric hoops introduce playful texture without overwhelming the space. The overall aim was to create a calm yet whimsical room that will grow with her.

Design Inspiration and the Mood Board
The inspiration board guided the nursery’s overall direction: a balanced mix of patterns and solids, layered textures, and a consistent pink-and-turquoise color story. That board helped prioritize where to add small statement pieces versus subtle supporting elements. It’s a useful step for anyone planning a room that feels cohesive without being overly themed.
