Summer Patio Decor Ideas and a Cheerful DIY Wreath

This week officially kicked off summer swim team season, and our family is all in. My husband is coaching, our oldest daughter is assisting him, and both of our girls are on the roster. I’m the volunteer coordinator, so I’m busy behind the scenes organizing meets, snacks, and schedules. Between practices, carpooling, and early-morning warm-ups, our days are filled with lanes, heat sheets, and plenty of cheering. It’s a hectic, joyful rhythm—and for now, swim team life is front and center in our home. 🏊🏻‍♀️

We also spent Memorial Day weekend at the lake. The weather wasn’t ideal—rain moved in and lingered more than we hoped—but we squeezed in a few hours on the boat each day, which felt refreshing. Even with the soggy forecast, the time away was relaxing and a welcome break from the usual routine.

Coming home, I was glad to settle back into our summer routine—though “routine” at this time of year means juggling lots of moving parts. With teenagers who seem to eat nonstop and family members coming and going for activities, summer keeps us all on our toes. Still, I love the slower mornings, extra daylight, and the chance to make simple seasonal updates around the house.
