Gather ideas for decorating your home this fall with these fall decorating design boards. I’ve learned that less is more—by adding texture and warm, layered colors, my home shifts effortlessly into the season.
While many are already sharing fully decorated fall homes, I’m just getting started this year. I’ve decorated early in past seasons, but this time I’m taking my time and enjoying a slower approach to seasonal styling.

This is only our second fall in this new house, and I’m reshaping the way I decorate seasonally. Instead of a complete turnover of decor each year, I’m focusing on a few classic, versatile pieces I can use year after year and simply rotate accents in and out. Quality over quantity helps the home feel curated rather than cluttered.
My goal is simple: invest in a handful of beautiful, timeless items and build layered looks by swapping small accessories—pillows, throws, stems, and pumpkins—rather than buying a lot of brand-new seasonal decor every autumn.
The Fall Living Room
In the living room I keep many of the same essentials in place year-round, like my favorite Palna pillow covers and the midnight linen and antelope print cushions. These stay on the sofa permanently, and I only change a single accent pillow each season. It keeps the look fresh without fuss.
This year I added two large artisan vases to hold golden autumn leaf stems. Their size and warm tones anchor the space and pair well with layered textures—wool throws, woven baskets, and wooden accents. Small touches, such as swapping mantel topiaries for olive topiary trees and arranging neutral pumpkins, create a subtle but decidedly autumnal mood.

To complete the room I plan to add a couple of fall-colored throw blankets, layered rugs for warmth, and change the art displayed on my framed TV to seasonal pieces. The key is cohesion—echoing colors and textures from the living room through to adjacent spaces makes the whole home feel intentional and inviting.
The Fall Dining Room
The dining room is an exciting space this year because I recently inherited my great-grandmother’s antique dining furniture. It’s a sentimental and beautiful addition that is shaping the room’s future aesthetic. I haven’t shared the full reveal yet, but I envision a warm, layered dining area with a blend of antique and refined seasonal accents—simple linens, a subtle plaid tablecloth, ceramic gourds, and a centerpiece of hydrangeas or simple greenery.
I’m taking a measured approach here as well: mixing heirloom pieces with a few carefully chosen accents to enhance the room’s character without overwhelming the furniture’s history. Some items for the space will be collected over time to keep the plan cohesive and meaningful.

Fall in the Kitchen
In the kitchen I’m keeping changes subtle. I plan to switch the art in my scalloped frames for autumnal prints and add a few pretty stems on the island or table—simple arrangements can transform a utilitarian space into a cozy, seasonal gathering spot.

I’m also introducing navy art prints as part of the kitchen palette to tie it into the living room, which has navy accents. The deep navy provides contrast to the warm autumn tones and creates a cohesive flow from room to room. A few brass or wood accents and a runner or small rug will add texture and seasonal warmth without cluttering countertops.
More Fall Inspiration
If you love seasonal decorating, focus on a few investment pieces, reuse what you already own, and refresh with small accents. Textures, muted autumn hues, and natural elements—dried stems, woven baskets, soft throws, and neutral pumpkins—will give your home a welcoming fall feel. I’ll be sharing more posts and free printables soon, including navy art prints and simple DIYs to add cozy charm throughout the season.
