Fall Mantel Reveal: Cozy Autumn Mantel Decor Ideas

Fall Mantel Reveal

I’m excited to share my Fall mantel with you! I had it up for weeks before deciding to photograph and post it — I might have even put it up in August because I was so ready for cooler weather. I decorated with warm oranges, reds, and browns to bring seasonal color into the room.

Most of the pieces came from things I already owned. I did buy a few small items: fabric on sale at Hobby Lobby for $12, twine from Lowe’s for $2, and a piece of Fall subway art for $14. That puts the total cost for the mantel at about $28, which I’m happy with considering the impact it makes.

For a personal touch I wanted photographs in the display. I found the perfect engagement photo from our bedroom — a favorite image that fits the warm, nostalgic feeling of fall. Displaying meaningful photos is an easy way to customize seasonal décor and make it feel more like home.

The pumpkin and “Give Thanks” sign have been in my collection for a couple of years. Seasonal reminders like that help set the tone for fall and keep gratitude in focus during the busy months ahead.

One of my favorite additions is the Fall bunting. It was my first time making bunting and it turned out to be surprisingly simple — no sewing required. I used hot glue to assemble the pieces, which saved time and made the project beginner-friendly. I’ll share a step-by-step tutorial soon for anyone who wants an easy DIY bunting for their own fall mantel.

The fabric in the window frame was quick and inexpensive. I bought a quarter yard of a few different patterns so each pane was the right width. I used packing tape to secure the fabric so it’s easy to remove after the season. This is a great trick if you want temporary seasonal accents without permanent changes. The moss letter I made in spring pulled double duty here and ties in nicely with the autumn palette.

Stacking books is a simple styling technique I love to use to add height and visual interest. The colors of the books and covers complement the fall tones and help balance the arrangement across the mantel.

The subway art is one of the standout pieces on the mantel. Printable subway art is an affordable way to add bold typography and seasonal messages to your décor. I printed a Fall-themed subway art design and framed it, which gives a polished, graphic element to the display. A quick tip: printing the printable and framing it usually takes less time and effort than ordering a custom canvas, and it produces a cleaner framed result.

Overall, I’m really happy with how the mantel turned out. Mixing handmade elements, meaningful photos, thrifted or existing pieces, and a few low-cost purchases created a cozy, layered look that feels welcoming for the season.

That little bird figurine has been with me through moves and adds a playful touch to the display. Small sentimental objects like that help make seasonal décor feel personal instead of store-bought.

There you have it — my Fall mantel reveal. Have you started decorating for fall yet? I’d love to hear about your projects and see photos of how you’ve styled your spaces for the season. Leave a comment to share your ideas and inspiration.
