This shared girls’ bedroom vision board centers on a soft white, blush, and blue-green palette, combining florals, patterns, and layered texture for a timeless and adaptable space girls can grow with.
In my “Home Goals 2020, part 2” post I mentioned wanting to refresh my daughters’ room before the end of June. We’ve made good progress, and I’m excited to share the vision for their shared bedroom now that we’ve started the makeover.
The move to our new house went smoothly, but the girls have missed their decorated rooms from the old house — my oldest especially has been asking me to repaint the lime green walls. Below is how the room looked right after we moved in.

Our new home has two bedrooms for the girls, but they chose to share the room with the ensuite bathroom while using the extra bedroom as a playroom. We wanted to try it for a few months before committing long term, and so far the shared setup has been working wonderfully.

Although the new beds are already in place and I’ve painted the bedroom in a warm blush/coral pink, I wanted to document the concept and mood for the space before sharing more progress photos. This post outlines the design choices, the shopping list, and the steps we’ll take to complete the makeover.

I began the design by choosing the beds and the wall color first. Many start with wallpaper or a statement rug, but with the bed style and paint tone already decided, everything else naturally falls into place.
A key element of the concept is the Watercolor Flora wallpaper featured in the mood board. I plan to wallpaper the adjoining bathroom and may use the same pattern on an accent wall in the bedroom to tie the spaces together.
I hesitated about using such a popular wallpaper, but after searching for alternatives I kept returning to it — the scale, palette, and painterly florals feel ideal for a daughters’ room that balances sweetness with sophistication.

Planned updates and finishing touches:
- Paint the bedroom walls in Pink Ground by Farrow & Ball. I sampled Pink Ground from Anthropologie and had it color-matched at Lowe’s for the final paint.
- Create an accent wall using wallpaper or a stencil; the watercolor floral will definitely be used in the bathroom and possibly as a bedroom accent.
- Install a full-loft bed over a full bed for practical shared sleeping arrangements. We recently set these up and the girls absolutely love them.
- Outfit the beds with Beddy’s bedding for easy, tidy beds. The zippable bedding keeps sheets smooth and makes morning bed-making simple for kids.
- Refinish or purchase a long dresser and paint it white to coordinate with the bedding and beds. I’m watching for a sale on the dresser I want.
- Reuse and rotate decorative pieces from the girls’ previous rooms to keep the makeover budget-friendly and personal.
- Hem curtains to the correct length for the room and swap the existing ceiling fan for a low-profile fixture that safely clears the loft bed.
This refresh is more about key changes than a full overhaul: paint, beds, an accent wall, bedding, and a few decor swaps. Since we’ve already completed many of these steps, I expect the room will feel fully finished very soon. It’s already beginning to reflect their personalities, and a few final touches will make it truly theirs.
Sources for the girls’ bedroom makeover include the full loft bed over full bed, ceiling fan options with enclosed blades, the Watercolor Floral wallpaper, curtains, tassel garland, decorative pillows, the Pink Ground paint color, a floor mirror, wall art, DIY bookshelf ideas, floral canvas art, aqua ceramic lamp bases, lamp shades, and an extra-long dresser.
I can’t wait to share the completed room once everything is in place — it’s going to be a cozy, stylish, and practical space the girls will love for years.
