Woodland Nursery Decor Ideas for a Baby Girl

Sweet, whimsical, and subtly outdoorsy, this baby girl woodland nursery inspiration board blends soft blues, pinks, and yellows with natural textures to create a playful yet calming space.

Happy Monday! We had fall break last week, which meant my partner and our little one were home all week. I love family time, but I also rely on routine, so getting everyone back to the regular schedule this morning felt like a welcome reset.

I’ve been excited to share the inspiration board for our baby girl, who arrives in a few months. Finalizing these ideas will help me begin prepping her nursery, and I’m eager to get started.

This board has been months in the making. Following basic room makeover principles, I focused first on essentials: a crib, a dresser that doubles as a changing table, and a comfortable glider or rocking chair with an ottoman. Those three elements provide the functional backbone of any nursery; everything else is about personality and comfort.

The theme I settled on is a colorful, whimsical woodland nursery. My partner is an avid outdoorsman, so a subtle outdoor nod felt like a sweet connection between her and her dad. It’s playful and feminine while keeping natural, rustic touches to balance the brighter colors.

I collected images and ideas on a private Pinterest board as I researched pieces and fabrics. My design inspiration began with two charming singing-animal art prints that capture the mood I wanted: gentle, storybook-like woodland creatures rendered in soft, modern colors. From there I layered in patterns, textures, and a few signature decor elements to create a cohesive look.

I love the refined look of some higher-end baby furniture lines, but I’m not planning to buy everything new. Instead, I’ll refinish and paint Miss A’s existing crib and dresser to achieve a similar finish without the steep price. I’m planning a DIY paint project to update those pieces, and if it goes well I’ll share a tutorial.

We already have a glider for nighttime feedings and cuddles, but I’m eyeing a swivel glider that transitions well into adult living spaces once the nursery stage passes. A versatile chair that fits the room’s aesthetic and will remain useful as our home evolves seems like a smart investment—whether we keep the current glider in the living room or move the new one between rooms depends on space and budget.

Below are the items and specific accents I used to assemble the inspiration board. These choices emphasize natural materials, storybook art, and cheerful fabrics that tie together the woodland theme without feeling too literal.

Paint note: I initially considered Robin’s Nest by Benjamin Moore but ultimately chose Lido Green from Benjamin Moore for the nursery walls. Lido Green offers a soft, soothing backdrop that complements both the warm and cool tones in the board.

Overall, I’m aiming for a room that feels cozy, imaginative, and thoughtfully layered—soft florals and blues mixed with natural wood, rattan, and handmade accents to create a gentle woodland retreat. What do you think—love it or leave it? If you’ve spotted any fresh nursery ideas or accessories that would fit this theme, I’d love to hear your suggestions.
