Autumn Tablescape with Farmgirl Flowers

I love it when inspiration strikes—don’t you?

After a quiet stretch of uninspired decorating for fall, I suddenly found the spark I needed earlier this week.

On Wednesday morning I had a friend over for a little playdate. As we chased our girls around, traded parenting war stories and navigated the usual potty breaks and dramatic toddler tears, she mentioned someone had just left a package at my door.

I get packages often because I shop mostly online, so I didn’t think much of it—until my friend left and I noticed the box said Farmgirl Flowers.

I’d admired Farmgirl Flowers for months, so I ripped the box open to find a breathtaking bouquet inside. It turned out a thoughtful friend had sent it as a thank-you for some help I’d given her the week before. What a lovely surprise!

I’d first fallen for Farmgirl Flowers when I saw a photo of their daily bouquet posted by someone online. Their model is simple and memorable: one unique bouquet design each day, made with American-grown blooms. They produce the same bouquet in a selection of sizes and ship across the contiguous United States. No choice overload—just thoughtfully curated arrangements.

I also appreciate their commitment to reducing waste. Typical flower shops discard a significant percentage of their inventory; Farmgirl Flowers has designed their process to keep that waste to a minimum, which feels like a meaningful difference to me. I’m not sponsored—they don’t know me—I just genuinely love their product and their mission.

The bouquet arrived wrapped in recycled burlap, which was so charming I saved the fabric and later used it as a cuff around the vase. After trimming the stems at a 45º angle, I placed the flowers in a large vase and immediately wanted to build a fall tablescape around them.

Once the house was quiet on Thursday—husband at work and the kids at school—I set to work decorating my DIY farmhouse dining table. I wanted the table to feel warm and fall-inspired while letting the bouquet remain the focal point.

I added turquoise goblets for a pop of color that contrasts beautifully with the warm hues of autumn. Those bright goblets instantly lift the mood of the table and create a pleasing contrast with the florals.

A couple of hand-carved wooden accents—a pumpkin and a pear—brought in an artisanal touch and a hint of rustic charm. I layered in mini white pumpkins for texture and seasonal whimsy, and placed gray and navy ramekins and buffalo-check name cards for a cozy, curated setting.

I kept arranging and rearranging small details until the whole composition felt balanced: a central floral anchor, hints of turquoise, natural wood elements, and soft neutrals. The result felt inviting and festive without being fussy.

It was a little bittersweet that no guests were coming over that day, but I’m already thinking this arrangement would be perfect for Thanksgiving at my parents’ house. The flowers themselves will be gone by then, of course, but I’m more than happy to send a fresh bouquet to my mom as a thank-you for hosting the holiday.

Below are some of my favorite photos from the morning. I love how the colors and textures came together—candles, linen, wood, and fresh blooms all working in harmony to create a welcoming fall table.

Creating a seasonal centerpiece can be simple: start with a standout bouquet, add a few textured accents and a pop of color, and finish with small, personal details that reflect your home. That’s what made this tablescape feel so special to me.
