11 Ways to Use Peace & Calming Essential Oil

I’m excited to share one of my favorite essential oil blends: Peace & Calming. When I first opened my starter kit and sniffed each bottle, this blend didn’t stand out to me. Over time, though, its warm, earthy aroma won me over, and now I use it almost every day.

Peace & Calming combines tangerine, orange, ylang ylang, patchouli and blue tansy into a balanced, soothing scent. For me, its calming fragrance has become an important part of my nightly routine and helps create a sleep-friendly environment.

11 Amazing Uses for Peace and Calming Essential Oil

I’m a light sleeper and often wake easily — which can be useful with a young child in the house, but not so great when I’m trying to get quality rest. Before I started using Peace & Calming, I’d lie awake thinking about tasks or stay restless after being woken. Now, I roll a little on the soles of my feet each night and I fall asleep faster, stay asleep more soundly, and feel calmer at bedtime.

I still hear my daughter if she cries, which is important, but I’m less likely to wake from every small noise. Using this blend consistently has helped me unwind and reset at the end of the day.

What the maker says about Peace & Calming:

Peace & Calming® is a gentle, fragrant blend. When diffused, it helps calm tensions and uplift the spirit, promoting relaxation and a deep sense of peace. When massaged on the bottoms of the feet, it can be a wonderful prelude to a peaceful night’s rest. Peace & Calming may be especially calming and comforting to young children after an overactive and stressful day.

I appreciate that this blend is commonly used with children and, in some cases, with pets — always following product guidelines and observing individual sensitivities.

The many uses of Peace & Calming

  • Bedtime routine: Rub 1–2 drops on the soles of the feet and the back of the neck before bed to promote relaxation and prepare for sleep. Many people find this a simple, effective nightly ritual.
  • Comfort for pets: Apply a small amount behind a pet’s ears (avoiding eyes and mouth) to help soothe them during thunderstorms or stressful situations. Use caution and consult a veterinarian if you have concerns.
  • Calming children: Dilute one drop in a teaspoon of carrier oil and rub gently on a child’s tummy or the bottoms of the feet to help during tantrums or overstimulation.
  • Reduce nighttime teeth grinding: Diffuse 4–6 drops in the bedroom in the evening to create a calming atmosphere that may help reduce bruxism for some people.
  • Relaxing bath: Add 5–8 drops to half a cup of Epsom salt, mix thoroughly, and add to warm bathwater for a soothing soak that encourages relaxation.
  • Diffusion for focus and calm: Diffuse Peace & Calming in the home or car to help settle overactive children or to create a tranquil environment during errands and travel.
  • Personal fragrance: Dab a drop on wrists and behind the ears as a light, calming scent before a stressful meeting or event instead of a conventional perfume.
  • Relaxing massage: Mix a few drops with a carrier oil such as coconut or jojoba and use for a gentle, calming massage to relieve everyday tension.
  • Soothing active pets: After playtime, rub a diluted drop on the back or behind the ears of a pet that tends to get overly excited, to help them settle down.
  • Managing acute stress: Apply diluted Peace & Calming to the wrists, base of the neck, or the soles of the feet during a moment of anxiety or panic to help create a calming sensory cue.

Tips for best results: apply consistently as part of a bedtime ritual, consider pairing diffusion with a wind-down routine (reading, dimming lights), and keep usage gentle and simple. If you prefer not to apply directly to skin, diffusion or adding to a bath are excellent alternatives.

Safety reminders: always perform a patch test before applying any essential oil to larger skin areas. Avoid contact with eyes and sensitive areas. When using on children or pets, dilute appropriately and watch for any signs of irritation. If pregnant, nursing, or under medical care, consult a healthcare provider before use. For pets, if you’re unsure, check with your veterinarian.
